Debbie Marucci

Creative diversity defined the early years of my life as I juggled family life with work. Always an entrepreneur, "Wigglyjig", a children's store specializing in creative toys, games and unique clothing, was my first business. After I sold it, I decided to complete my college education at our local university, Youngstown State University. I earned a BFA with a Bachelor of Science. Other business enterprises included, an appliqué shirt business called "the Bear Foot Trader" and later, a silk screening and embroidery business that serviced dance schools throughout the United States. From there, I taught art in public schools for a short while.

In 1999, after the kids were on their way, in college and beginning their own lives, my husband and I moved to Florida from Ohio. There, I began a whole new art career.

Through my many years of creating, I have explored many mediums while experimenting with different ways of expressing my inner vision. Through color and form, I try to elicit a sense of spiritual and emotional sensibility through my artwork. For the past twenty years, art shows and festivals have been the venue for selling my artwork throughout Florida and other Eastern States. From this, came opportunities for submitting my work to public art calls. I have been able to share my work and vision in several public art venues over the past ten years.

My work has been on display through a short term or as a permanent purchase in the following locations:

  • Boynton Beach, FL

  • Raleigh, NC

  • St. Helena Island, SC

  • Charlotte County, FL

  • Tallahassee, FL

  • Venice, FL

  • Sarasota, FL

  • Orlando, FL

  • Nashville, TN

Community art is another arena I've participated in, which encompasses mosaic, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Some of the recipients include the Venice Art Center and The Southeastern Guide Dog Organization.

In Sarasota, FL, The Marietta Museum of Whimsy owns a few of my pieces along with, St. Helena Library in St. Helena Island, SC, Villa Serena in Bradenton, FL, and Unity Church of Venice, FL.

Other pieces of my art have been purchased for private collections throughout the country and have also been represented in several in several art galleries.
